    Giant Eagle Taps Y&R as New Ad Agency

    The firm will take on the grocer's estimated $15-20 million budget.

    Giant Eagle has awarded the Chicago office of Young & Rubicam its creative and media planning duties after a review.

    WPP Group's Y&R partnered with sister shop Maxus in Chicago to pitch the estimated $15-20 million account, according to Progressive Grocer's sister publication, Adweek. Y&R and Maxus succeed The Richards Group, a Dallas-based independent that opted not to defend the business, Media buying duties remain at RJW Media in Pittsburgh.

    Giant Eagle operates 223 supermarkets and 130 fuel and convenience stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland, nearly a third of which are independently owned and operated.
