Giant Food LLC, in partnership with its sister company Peapod, has rolled out 20 Giant Pickup locations since April, among them two recently opened locations at Giant stores in Bowie, Md., and Sterling, Va. Additionally, the Ahold USA-owned grocery chain introduced a Giant Pick-up and Giant Fuel station hybrid facility at 8500 Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase, Md.
Describing the "Giant Pick-up" program as “an excellent convenience for customers in the Mid-Atlantic region,” Giant Food president Anthony Hucker noted, “Our hybrid fuel station, paired with the ability to pick up groceries, is offering our customers an even deeper level of convenience.”
Shoppers can also order groceries online through Peapod.com for pickup at Giant stores in Annapolis, Clarkesville, Columbia, Crofton, Derwood, Edgewater, Germantown, Rockville and Severna Park, Md., and Alexandria, Centreville and Herndon, Va.
“Customers can shop anytime, anywhere from their desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone, and then pick up their groceries in less than five minutes,” Hucker said. “They don’t even need to get out of the car.”
There’s no fee for Giant Pick-up, as well as no minimum purchase. Shoppers can select a one-hour pickup time from morning through evening, and can create personal lists, read nutrition information online, sort products quickly by price or by nutrition criteria, and take advantage of thousands of weekly specials. Customers can also shop from a list of items they’ve bought at their local store by entering their Giant Food card number online. All Giant Pickup Purchases earn Giant Gas Rewards.
