GMA Appoints V. P. Federal Affairs

WASHINGTON -- Grocery Manufacturers Association president and c.e.o. Cal Dooley said yesterday that the trade group had named Scott Faber v.p. for federal affairs, effective Aug. 6. Faber will report to s.v.p. and chief government affairs officer Mary Sophos.

"GMA, its member companies and the entire food, beverage and consumer packaged goods industry will benefit greatly from his experience in federal legislative advocacy," said Dooley in a statement.

Faber most recently served as a campaign director at Environmental Defense, where he managed the group's national campaign to reform federal farm policies. Earlier he was senior director for public policy at American Rivers, where he developed and managed national campaigns to reform federal water policies.

At GMA Faber said he expects "to advocate commonsense public policy solutions to the issues confronting the food, beverage, and consumer packaged goods industry."

The GMA board of directors comprises c.e.o’s from the association's member companies. The $2.1 trillion food, beverage, and consumer packaged goods industry employs 14 million workers and contributes over $1 trillion in added value to the nation's economy.
