Unlike current all-in-one dry mixes, Chiquita Banana Bread Mix, which comes to market next month, is a unique offering that requires the addition of just two bananas, water and an egg, so the resulting bread features authentic banana flavor and a moist texture, in addition to zero trans fats and no preservatives. The product, which is the fruit of a licensing agreement for Cincinnati’s Chiquita Brands International between Louisville, Ky.-based IMC Licensing and Concord Foods, Inc. of Brockton, Mass., will be displayed and sold in fresh produce departments alongside bananas. Launching with a comprehensive merchandising campaign that includes on-pack coupons, in-store displays and sampling events, the mix will be available in 12-unit cartons and 48-unit floor display shippers, and a 13.7-ounce box will retail for a suggested $2.59.
