    Great Midwest Seeks Greatest Grilled Cheese

    Saputo specialty brand sponsors recipe contest

    If it’s not a white bread world, it’s not necessarily a white bread grilled cheese world anymore, either. Encouraging creative ideas for a favorite American sandwich, Great Midwest Cheese has put a call out for home chefs to submit their best grilled cheese recipes.

    Entries will be accepted through August and September and the grand prize winner will receive a weekend trip to a “Great Midwest” city of their choice. Recipes will include sandwiches made with Great Midwest brand cheeses, which are part of the Saputo USA portfolio.

    Katie Jury, marketing manager for Saputo Cheese USA's specialty cheese brand, says she expects an array of creative ideas that reflect consumers’ penchant for putting a gourmet take on classic foods. “Great Midwest artisanal flavored cheeses bring a 'grown up' twist to this childhood classic. With the myriad flavors the line offers, the possibilities are endless,” she says.

    In addition to the grand prize, Great Midwest Cheese will award two silver and five bronze winners. Those winners will receive prizes tied to the theme of the contest, including a Cuisinart Griddler Grill, Griddle & Panini Press and the book "Grilled Cheese: 50 Recipes to Make You Melt” by Marlena Spieler.

    To promote and support the contest, Midwest Cheese is providing in-store shelf talkers with tear pads and coupons.
