In honor of its 125th anniversary, Hannaford Supermarkets said it is offering special prices on a range of popular items, including well-known national brands. The grocer's circular for Oct. 19 through Oct. 25, 2008, features many products for a celebratory price of $1.25. Items going for the anniversary price this week include Hannaford brand, 75 percent lean ground beef at $1.25 per pound; a six-pack of 12-ounce Mountain Dew or diet or regular Pepsi; a six-count package of Thomas' Plain English Muffins; a 6.4-ounce tube of Colgate toothpaste in select varieties; a five-pound bag of Maine potatoes; and a 32-ounce jar of Smucker's Grape Jam or Jelly.
The advertised products have a limit per customer of four or five units.
"We're celebrating 125 years with fantastic savings!" trumpeted the Scarborough, Maine-based chain's flier, which additionally told shoppers they could save up to $20 on their next shopping trip with special coupon offers on selected Unilever, Procter & Gamble, and other brand-name products.
