Hansen Resigning From Delhaize Board

Belgian international food retailer Delhaize Group has revealed that corporate executive Jean-Pierre Hansen is resigning from the company’s board of directors, effective June 30. Hansen is currently vice-chairman of the executive committee and senior EVP in charge of operations of French multinational water, waste management and energy company Suez.

“My commitments in the energy sector and different additional duties that I have assumed since I joined the Delhaize Group board in 2011 are requiring more attention than I initially believed,” explained Hansen, a Belgian national, noting that he made the decision to resign with “deep regret.”

“A prominent figure in the European business world with impressive experience gained outside of our sector, Jean-Pierre Hansen brought a very thoughtful and highly valued contribution to the board, and he will be greatly missed,” said chairman Mats Jansson.

Brussels-based Delhaize is present in 10 countries on three continents, employing about 158,000 people.
