Harris Teeter to Pilot-test In-Store Clinic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Harris Teeter plans to open a limited-service health clinic mid-October at its store in the Matthews Festival Shopping Center, according to a report in Bizjournals.com.

The facility, dubbed CMC-Express, will be staffed by nurse practitioners and offer medical care for minor illnesses and injuries as well as provide vaccinations. The partner in the project is Carolinas Medical Center-Unversity, also based here.

The grocer will expand installations to additional stores based on the success of the pilot, according to the report.

Harris Teeter Inc., a division of Charlotte-based Ruddick Corp., operates 160 supermarkets across the Carolinas, Georgia, Virginia, Maryland, Florida, and Tennessee.
