Harris Teeter to Provide More Surcharge-free ATMs

Under a newly expanded ATM branding relationship established in 2005, PNC Bank will brand Cardtronics’ portfolio of Harris Teeter-located ATMs, offering greater surcharge-free ATM access to PNC’s customers in the Southeast, the bank’s newest territory, and beyond.

In 2011, Matthews, N.C.-based Harris Teeter chose Cardtronics its ATM services provider, with plans to expand in-store ATM availability and create a consistent ATM experience for its customers. Less than a year later, Pittsburgh-based PNC will brand 191 Cardtronics-owned, Harris Teeter-located ATMs by Labor Day at stores in North Carolina; South Carolina; Virginia; Maryland; Washington, D.C.; Delaware; Georgia;and Florida.

PNC is always looking for innovative ways to make banking easier and more convenient for our customers, and these Cardtronics ATMs located in 191 Harris Teeter grocery stores are a great way to expand our services throughout North Carolina and beyond,” noted Jim Burzotta, retail banking executive for PNC’s southeast region, which the bank entered with its acquisition of RBC Bank (USA) in March 2012.

Including the Harris Teeter locations, PNC Bank’s ATM branding relationship with Cardtronics now covers more than 585 ATMs in eight states and Washington, D.C., with cash machines in some of the United States’ best-known grocery, gasoline-convenience and drug stores.

“That Harris Teeter has consolidated ATM services with us, and that PNC Bank has branded hundreds of Cardtronics-owned and -operated ATMs, speaks volumes about Cardtronics’ ability to provide safe and reliable ATM services, secure the best retail ATM placements and bring together the customer bases of two premium American brands,” said Rick Updyke, president, U.S. Business Group at Houston-based Cardtronics, the world’s largest retail ATM owner. “For confirmation that Cardtronics is focused on serving our clients, executing our business strategy and increasing value for our clients as well as our shareholders, look no further than PNC Bank and Harris Teeter.”

PNC customers can use the ATMs free during Harris Teeter store hours, including those open 24 hours a day. As well as cash withdrawals, customers can transfer money and check balances on checking and savings accounts.
