Harris Teeter to Sell Portable Medical Record Storage Devices

Harris Teeter, Inc., Matthews, N.C., plans to sell a new electronic storage device for consumers’ medical information that can be worn as a necklace or used as a keychain.

The grocer will sell the MedFlash Electronic Personal Health Record from Palm City, Fla.-based Connectyx's in all 118 Harris Teeter Stores with Pharmacy.

The MedFlash product is a personal health and lifestyle record and portal that is USB flash drive enabled. It contains an emergency flash drive with a Web portal and 24/7 emergency call center access, which contains the owner's complete medical and key related information. Stored information on the MedFlash can be securely accessed on any computer with complete privacy for the members, according to Connectyx.

Harris Teeter, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ruddick Corporation, operates 188 stores in the eight-state area of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Maryland, and Delaware.
