Harris Teeter Spring Golf Outing Raises $215K to Fight Hunger

:Just in time to help food banks stock their shelves for the summer months, regional grocer Harris Teeter helped to raise $215,000 in its recent Spring Golf Outing.

The tournament took place at Carmel Country Club in Charlotte, N.C. on April 14, and the money raised will span across eight states, Matthews, N.C.-based Harris Teeter said last week.

Harris Teeter noted that many food banks receive the majority of their donations during the winter months, and it can difficult for them to stretch those donations through out an entire year.

Food Banks receiving donations include: Lowcountry Food Bank, Capital Area Food Bank, Interfaith Relief, Second Harvest of Northwest NC, Second Harvest of Middle TN, Good Shepherd Ministries, Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, Second Harvest of Southeast VA, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, Loaves & Fishes, and MANNA Food Bank.
