Harris Teeter Unveils Jingle Contest Winners

Harris Teeter Friday revealed the winners of its Together in Education (TIE) “Sing My Jingle” contest: Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, N.C., and Capital City Public Charter School in Washington earned the grand prize and People’s Choice vote, respectively.

The Matthews, N.C.-based regional grocer garnered over 100 video-clip entries during the contest, and, after viewing every submission, a panel of Harris Teeter judges bestowed the $10,000 top prize on Wesleyan. Capital City received $2,500.

The contest gave schools the opportunity to win money, and also offered consumers an incentive to vote for their favorite video by entering voters in a random drawing to win three $500 Harris Teeter gift cards. The gift card winners are Harold Smith of Cornelius, N.C.; Lynn Knudsen of Davidson, N.C.; and Pamela Secrest of Belmont, N.C.

An extension of the my harris teeter campaign the company ran during the fall of 2005, the contest enabled Harris Teeter to demonstrate its support for education by financially rewarding the winning schools. The catchy tune has long been a favorite of devoted Harris Teeter fans.

Harris Teeter plans to air a Sing My Jingle commercial in select markets during the “American Idol” finale on Wednesday, May 26, 2010. Submissions including the winning entries can be viewed at http://jingle.harristeeter.com/singmyjingle/.
