HEB Opens 5 Austin In-Store Health Clinics, 2 More Planned for July

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- HEB here yesterday opened five new in-store health clinics, and has two more planned to open in July, in an effort to offer consumers easy access to high-quality, routine healthcare services at affordable prices.

The retailer contracted RediClinic LLC, Houston, to install and operate the clinics.

"Family health and wellness are top priorities for HEB," said Craig Norman, v.p. of pharmacy for
HEB.

RediClinics are staffed by certified nurse practitioners who work with local physicians to diagnose, treat, and prescribe medications for common conditions, such as seasonal allergies, earaches, strep throat and upper respiratory infections. They also offer preventive services, including many health screening tests, flu shots, and other vaccinations (including travel vaccinations), and basic physical exams.

The clinics charge a flat rate of $59 for "Get Well" services, and preventive services start at $15. The company also accepts co-payments from several insurance plans, including Aetna, CIGNA, Humana, UnitedHealthcare, and Medicare.

HEB has more than 150 stores throughout Texas and Mexico.
