Hormel Foods Corp. broke ground last week on a new production facility in Dubuque, Iowa. The manufacturer will operate Progressive Packaging, LLC as a wholly owned subsidiary. The total cost of the project is projected to be $89 million.
"Iowa has been at the center of feeding this country and the world for more than a century," noted Jeffrey M. Ettinger, Hormel chairman of the board, president, and c.e.o.
The 327,000-square-foot plant is expected to be up and running by November 2009. Initially, 180 new jobs will be created, with more expected in future phases, according to Hormel.
Austin, Minn.-based Hormel is a multinational manufacturer and marketer of consumer-branded food and meat products.
