    IDC Launches Social Networks for Manufacturing and Retail Technology

    IDC Insights, a series of industry-specific research and advisory services, has launched two additions to its IDC Insights Community: the IDC Manufacturing Insights Community and the IDC Retail Insights Community.

    IDC Insights, a series of industry-specific research and advisory services, has launched two additions to its IDC Insights Community: the IDC Manufacturing Insights Community and the IDC Retail Insights Community.

    “We [are looking to] extend our conversations with industry thought leaders through the use of social networking,” said Bob Parker, group VP at Framingham, Mass.-based IDC”We look forward to leveraging the power of our community to better serve our clients, prospects and partners in offering the most compelling and relevant research and analysis on today’s most pressing trends.”

    The online communities are designed to provide a forum for information exchange and idea generation among peers. In the spirit of social networking, the goal of the community is to create a forum for IT and business professionals to discuss technology issues within the context of their business. Specifically, the analysts with IDC Manufacturing and Retail Insights will tackle some of today’s most pressing trends, including the future of the automotive industry, cloud computing, customer experience, future factories, retail private label manufacturing and sourcing, and sustainability and supply chain risk.

    Additionally, IDC Manufacturing Insights and IDC Retail Insights communities will feature:

    --Networking opportunities: Users can invite, find and interact with analysts and other members
    --Analyst blogs
    --Discussion forums
    --A resource library
    --An events calendar

    Members will be invited to participate in blog discussions, forums and polls; learn about and share best practices, tips, tricks and tools related to business/technology alignment; network with colleagues; and provide feedback to IDC analysts and peers. IDC analysts will regularly contribute content, including blog posts, forum discussions and questions for the community members to discuss. In keeping with IDC Insights’ unique value proposition, the communities will address IT issues within the context of an industry’s business. IDC analysts worldwide will participate in the community, ensuring the content will be global in nature.
