BJ's Banks $700K for Feeding America Members

In celebration of the company's 30th anniversary, BJ's Wholesale Club said today it will provide grants to 30 Feeding America-member foods banks to help them build capacity for storing perishable food items.

"BJ's Wholesale Club is proud to reach our 30-year milestone and share our enthusiasm by expanding our role in the fight against hunger," said Laura Sen, president and CEO of BJ's Wholesale Club.

"Supporting agencies' need for capacity building will ensure that perishable food can reach the people who need it most," Sen added. "Investing in our communities, specifically for hunger relief, is a vital goal to which BJ's is committed."

The wholesaler's charitable foundation will donate $700,000 in total to shelters and food banks within BJ's 15-state footprint.

BJ's has been partnering with Feeding America since 2011 through the wholesaler's Feed Communities program. To date, the company's club stores have contributed more than 22 million pounds of perishable food.

Westborough, Mass.-based BJ's Wholesale Club operates 203 clubs on the east coast.
