H-E-B, ADA Introduce Nutrition Services Across Texas

In honor of American Diabetes Month, H-E-B has teamed up with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) to launch H-E-B Nutrition Services, a series of educational tools designed to help customers live healthier lives.

Throughout the month, registered dietitians and nutritionists will be in select H-E-B stores across Texas providing nutrition education and care, including private consultations, grocery shopping tours, cooking demonstrations, group health and disease management classes, among other services.

The grocer's nutrition experts will also be available upon request for off-site group nutrition events such as health classes, cooking demonstrations, speaking events and training.

Kate Rogers, VP of engagement for the San Antonio-based grocer, noted that Nutrition Services "is a way for H-E-B to further assist Texans when making healthy choices for themselves and their families."

Rogers added that the service can be tailored to fit each customer's needs, including individuals, employers, and medical professionals and their patients.

Nutrition Services start as low as $20 per person. Currently, H-E-B accepts Medicare, Humana and Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance for these health-based services, with additional insurance providers slated to join by 2015.

H-E-B operates more than 350 stores in Texas and Mexico.
