Stater Bros. Gives $57K to Toys for Tots

Stater Bros. Charities, the philanthropical arm of Stater Bros. Markets, presented a $57,450 check to representatives from the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program earlier in December, marking the 10th consecutive year the San Bernardino, Calif.-based grocer has aided the holiday campaign. Representatives from the U.S. Marine Corps attended the check presentation ceremony at Stater Bros.' corporate offices.

The donation went to buy thousands of toys, which were distributed to community-based organizations in San Bernardino, Riverside and Los Angeles counties. These organizations then donated the toys to needy children and families in the area.

"The Stater Bros. 'family' believes in giving back to the communities we serve," said Jack H. Brown, chairman of the board and CEO of Stater Bros. Markets.

The donation was made possible through a partnership among Stater Bros. Charities, Stater Bros. Markets, manufacturers of Stater Bros. brand products, and six national-brand manufacturers: Clorox, ConAgra Foods, Kraft Foods, Nestlé Sales, Pepsi Beverages Co. and Smucker Retail Foods Inc. Additionally, Stater Bros.' shoppers supported Toys for Tots by purchasing select Stater Bros. brand or national brand products.

The largest private employer in both San Bernardino and Riverside counties, Stater Bros. operates 168 Supermarkets, and employs 18,000 associates. Stater Bros. Charities is a nonprofit organization that supports critical needs in the communities where Stater Bros. employees live and work.
