Stater Bros. to Observe Nat'l Moment of Remembrance

On Memorial Day, all 167 Stater Bros. Supermarkets will participate in the “National Moment of Remembrance,” during which  -- at exactly 3 p.m. Monday, May 26th -- every Stater Bros. store manager will ask all customers and employees to pause for 60 seconds to honor Americans who have died serving their country.

“Memorial Day was originally established to commemorate America’s fallen men and women,” said Jack H. Brown, chairman and CEO of Stater Bros. and a Navy veteran. “Stater Bros. would like to do our part to remind our customers and employees that this is still a sacred and noble holiday, and a time when we can all connect as Americans. Honoring those who defend our nation is part of our company tradition, as the founders of Stater Bros., Cleo, Leo and Lavoy Stater, all served in World War II.”

The Annual National Moment of Remembrance was initiated by No Greater Love Organization in 1997 and formally established by an act of Congress in 2000. The National Moment of Remembrance Act designates 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day each year as the moment to honor of the men and women of the United States who died in the pursuit of freedom and peace.

San Bernardino, Calif.-based Stater Bros. operates 167 Supermarkets in Southern California.
