United Family Hosts School Supply Drive

As back-to-school season approaches, The United Family is working to help area students in need through its "Project SOS: Supply our Students" school supply drive.

Through Aug. 12, customers at any United Supermarkets, Market Street or Amigos location in Lubbock and Slaton, Texas, can make a cash donation at checkout or purchase school supplies and drop them off at specified locations.

“School supplies are essential to a child’s success in the classroom, and the reality is that many families in our community are unable to purchase these items for their children,” said Shelby Crews, community relations manager for The United Family. “The money and supplies we collect will help ensure all Lubbock children have the proper tools to learn and develop in the classroom alongside their peers.”

Schools that will benefit from the drive include Cooper, Frenship, Lubbock, Roosevelt and Slaton ISDs.

The United Family operates 68 stores under five banners. The Lubbock-based company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Albertson’s LLC.
