Albert's Organics Opening New Southeastern DC

Organic fresh foods distributor Albert’s Organics will open its eighth distribution center in September. Strategically located in Charlotte, N.C., the new facility will service the southeastern United States, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and southern Virginia.

Featuring an all-new state-of-the-art refrigeration system and a fleet of new trucks, the 43,000-square-foot DC will be the largest of Albert’s facilities.

“[B]y setting up a focal point in Charlotte, we will cut back substantially on our business carbon footprint, which is a vital part of our larger mission,” noted Scott Dennis, VP of new business development for Albert’s. “Working with local growers and food suppliers keeps our transportation footprint much smaller, as does eliminating our need to service the Southeastern area from our New Jersey and Florida divisions. Our calculations show that Albert’s Organics trucks will travel over 400,000 [fewer] miles per year with the expansion of Albert’s Southeast.”

Albert’s is the largest certified organic distributor of fresh organic produce and other organic and natural perishable foods. A division of United Natural Foods, the company is based in Bridgeport, N.J., with other divisions in New Hampshire, Florida, Minnesota, Colorado, Southern California and Northern California.
