Carl Buddig Is Supervalu's 2004 'Supplier of the Year'

HOMEWOOD, Ill. - Carl Buddig & Co., based here, one of the country's leading suppliers of private label, thin-sliced meats, has been named Supervalu's 2004 "Supplier of the Year." The Minneapolis-based supermarket retailer presents the award annually for outstanding performance.

Carl Buddig received the award last month based on the success of the Supervalu Farm Fresh store brand. The "Supplier of the Year" award program, which is now in its third year, provides a forum for Supervalu to give credit to the suppliers that are the best in their core product offering.

"Carl Buddig has done an outstanding job supporting our store brand, Farm Fresh, through aggressive promotional and marketing efforts, excellent customer service, and by consistently providing our stores with a high-quality product," noted Randy Domer, Supervalu corporate director - meat & seafood. "We're proud of our relationship with Carl Buddig and pleased to have the company as our supplier for store brands."

The nomination and selection of the "Supplier of the Year" are determined based on the recommendation of buyers and merchants at Supervalu's retail store network, which includes Cub Foods, Shop'N Save, Shoppers Food Warehouse, and Scott's Foods.
