Cirelli Foods Makes Executive Moves

MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. -- Cirelli Foods here, New England's largest family-owned broadline foodservice distributor, said it has made several promotions and additions to its team.

Frank Battista has joined the company in the newly created position of sales consultant, in which capacity he will be responsible for opening new territories and securing the existing customer base, among other duties. With 25 years in the foodservice industry as a territory manager and product development specialist, Battista has built a loyal base of operations in the North End of Boston and has garnered several sales achievement awards over the years for achieving sales and budget goals.

As Cirelli's general accountant, a new position, Catherine Loiacono will assist the controller with monthly financials, perform general ledger system analysis, and streamline accounting department procedures.

Amy Roussel, previously a marketing assistant with Cirelli, has been appointed human resources generalist. Her predecessor left the company to pursue other opportunities. Roussel's responsibilities include employee relations, payroll liaison, staff training and development, coordinating benefits, and employee events.

In her role of sales and purchasing assistant, a new position, Kelly Taylor will act as liaison between the sales and purchasing departments. A long-term Cirelli employee, Taylor, who started her career at the company as a receptionist, has since served in a number of departments, among them sales & marketing, customer service, and purchasing.

Cathy Russo, who has been appointed multi-unit group manager (MUG), previously served as sales support for eight years within the group. Russo replaces Jane Brett, who was promoted to the position of v.p. of sales and marketing. With over 30 years of experience in both retail management and wholesale production in the foodservice industry under her belt, Russo has also owned and operated several successful New England businesses.

Reaching over 4,000 customers in the Northeast, Cirelli has a broad customer base that includes independent restaurants, multichain units, schools, health care facilities, and nonprofits. The company's Middleborough-based retail division, 17,000-square-foot Cirelli Warehouse Marketplace, gives foodservice operators and the general public alike the opportunity to shop for name-brand products at warehouse prices, with no membership fees. This operation offers 2,000 on-shelf products, as well as providing access to any of the other 7,500 items in stock in the company's warehouse.

Cirelli is part of Atlanta-based UniPro Foodservice Cooperative, the United States' largest purchasing, marketing, and operating services organization for independent foodservice distributors, based in Atlanta, GA. Cirelli is one of only 50 regional suppliers included in UniPro's multi-unit program.
