Commerce Department Chooses Worldwide Food Expo for International Buyer Program

WASHINGTON - For the fourth consecutive time, Worldwide Food Expo, a trade show sponsored by several leading food industry associations, has been accepted into the prestigious International Buyer Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Worldwide Food Expo '03 is sponsored by the American Meat Institute (AMI), the International Association of Food Industry Suppliers (IAFIS), the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA), the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA), and the American Frozen Foods Institute (AFFI). The show will be held Oct. 29 ? Nov. 1 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

The International Buyer Program promotes the show and its exhibitors through U.S. consulates and trade missions around the world by facilitating meetings with qualified foreign buyers, representatives and distributors; offering access to international trade leads and export counseling from U.S. Commercial Service industry experts; and providing on-site assistance at the show.

Worldwide Food Expo is a biennial event that attracts more than 30,000 people from 150 countries and regions, including delegations from Asia, Central and South America, Canada, Russia, Australia, and Eastern and Western Europe. More than 1,200 exhibitors display their products and services. Expo '03 includes the co-located International Meat, Poultry and Seafood Exposition, and the Food, Dairy and Beverage Exposition.
