C&S Golf Outing Hits Hole in One for Kids With Cancer

KEENE, N.H. -- The 21st annual C&S Charity Golf Outing has raised $270,000, breaking the record raised by the wholesale grocer at previous golf events and bringing the historical total of donations from the outings over the $1 million mark for organizations dedicated to beating children's cancer.

Following two days of golf in at the Mt. Snow Resort in Mt. Snow, Vt. and the Wachusett Country Club in West Boylston, Mass. earlier this month, check presentations were made at banquets to the following recipients:

--$80,000 to the Boston-based Jimmy Fund-Dana Farber Cancer Center, for cancer research;

--$160,000 to Children's Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD) in Lebanon, N.H., for the pediatric oncology unit; and

--$30,000 to the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, Conn., for children with cancer to attend summer camp.

More than 500 C&S customers, vendors, and food industry figures took part in the outing on Aug. 8 and Aug. 9, along with children and families who received care and support from all three charities, and members of the medical teams who helped kids with cancer.

C&S co-president Ron Wright, who was present at both the Vermont and Massachusetts events, said: "For those of us at C&S, this is one of the best days of the year, because it's a day we're able to make a difference in lives of kids with cancer....Our customers and vendors generously stepped up to make the C&S Charity Golf Outing a success again and we're grateful."
