Five More Grocers to Install redbox Automated DVD Rental Kiosks

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. - Automated DVD vending kiosk provider redbox yesterday inked deals to install its units in stores operated by Albertsons LLC, Chevy Chase, Hannaford Supermarkets, Martin's, and Strack N Van Til.

According to vendor, a recent partner study revealed that redbox customers make additional visits to their favorite grocery locations to utilize the service. "Redbox is a tool to drive traffic, a point of difference and an active contributor to our customers' profit streams," said Gregg Kaplan, redbox c.e.o.

Each automated redbox kiosk holds more than 500 DVDs, selected to represent over 70 of the newest movie releases, with new titles available every Tuesday. Consumers use a touch screen to select their movies, then swipe a valid credit or debit card to dispense their selections. Customers can keep the DVD for as long as they'd like for $1 per night plus tax. After 25 nights, rental charges cease and the DVD is the customer's to keep. Consumers can also visit www.redbox.com to choose their title online for pickup at a redbox location of their choice.

To date, redbox has installations in more than 900 grocery stores.
