FMI’s Hollingsworth Gets Lifetime Achievement Award

Food Marketing Institute (FMI) SVP of food safety Jill Hollingsworth received the 2011 NSF Food Safety Leadership Award for Lifetime Achievement at the Food Safety Summit in Washington. The award was presented on April 20.

“Her knowledge, insight and leadership have been invaluable to our members as they work to address food safety challenges and ensure a safer food supply for consumers,” said Leslie G. Sarasin, president and CEO of Arlington, Va.-based FMI.

Hollingsworth, a veterinarian, has led the trade group’s food safety initiatives for almost 15 years. She additionally heads up the newly established Center of Excellence for Food Safety and Protection. Before joining FMI, Hollingsworth worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 15 years, where she oversaw such scientific activities as outbreak investigations, recalls and public health policy. She was also as a captain in the U.S. Air Force Reserves as part of the Biomedical Service Corps, specializing in biological warfare and food defense.
