Frieda's Promotes Caplan Wiggins, Millar to New Roles

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. -- Specialty produce supplier Frieda's Inc. made two key changes to its sales and marketing departments, with the promotions of two key staff members.

Jackie Caplan Wiggins, former retail sales manager, has become sales operations manager while Tristan Millar, former national accounts manager, is Frieda’s new v.p. of sales and marketing.

The changes represent "an innovative and focused approach to the execution of sales and marketing," said Karen Caplan, president. "Both Tristan and Jackie are talented leaders and I am so excited that we can utilize each of their strengths."

A graduate of San Diego State, Caplan Wiggins grew up in the produce industry, beginning her official career as an account manager at her family's organization, where she was responsible for the majority of Frieda's key accounts. She next moved on to retail sales manager, and in 1990, bought Frieda's with her sister, Karen, from their parents.

As sales operations manager, Caplan Wiggins will utilize her 22-plus years of sales and produce industry experience to oversee the day-to-day operations of Frieda's sales department.

Millar began her corporate marketing career on the retail side of the business. After employment with Smart and Final and graduating from the University of California/Irvine with a degree in English, Millar entered the produce industry when she joined Paramount Farms as marketing director, where she managed the Sunkist brand. She then became corporate marketing manager with Nancy's Specialty Foods, a Northern California-based frozen food company.

Millar joined Frieda's six years ago, as director of marketing, and later became its national sales manager. In her new post, she will oversee and direct all aspects of the company's sales and marketing departments, reporting directly to Karen Caplan.
