Giant-Carlisle Names V.P., Grocery Strategy
CARLISLE, Pa. -- Giant Food Stores, LLC here said yesterday that it has hired Dan Glei to serve as v.p., grocery strategy. Glei will initially be responsible for value engineering in relation to Giant's suppliers. He will also identify process improvements in the way Giant conducts business, and develop strategic long-term opportunities for the retailer. Glei reports to Jeff Martin, s.v.p., nonperishables.
A wholesaling and grocery industry veteran, Glei most recently served as state chain director with Glazers Cos. of Louisiana.
Giant, one of six retail-operating companies under Ahold USA, currently operates 103 stores as Giant Food Stores, 119 stores as Tops Markets, and 25 stores as Martin's Food Markets. With almost 40,000 associates, Giant serves a six-state market area.
