WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Kathy Siefken, executive director of the Nebraska Grocery Industry Association was honored by the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) based here, which presented her with an award of excellence in state government affairs at the Food Industry Association Executives Annual Meeting last week.

The award recognizes Siefken's outstanding leadership and cooperation on crucial industry initiatives, and her dedication to finding public policy solutions that meet the needs of consumers and business, said Steve Arthur, GMA v.p. of government affairs. "Kathy has been a valuable partner on issues ranging from selective food taxation to school vending legislation. From the grassroots level on up, Kathy and the members of the Nebraska Grocery Industry Association provide a textbook example of effective state association leadership," Arthur noted.

The GMA award of excellence in state government affairs is given each year to an outstanding state trade association executive in acknowledgement of GMA's long-standing partnerships with state associations to advance public policy initiatives that benefit the entire food, beverage and consumer products industry.
