GMA SVP Joins Deloitte’s Food & Product Safety Practice

Craig W. Henry, Ph.D., has joined Deloitte’s food & product safety practice as a director. He will work from the New York-based firm’s Baltimore office. Henry joins Deloitte from the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), where he was SVP for scientific and regulatory affairs and executive director of the Washington-based trade organization’s Science and Education Foundation.

“Craig’s more than three decades of food industry leadership experience, paired with his most recent work directly involving the U.S. federal and state regulatory and legislative authorities in Washington, D.C., will make him a valuable addition to our growing team,” noted Frank Oehl, partner at Deloitte & Touche, LLP and national leader of its food and product safety practice.

“Food and product safety is something that many companies — and millions of consumers — hold as a top priority,” said Dr. Henry, adding that in his new role, he would “help support a growing client base on such a key issue.”

Deloitte’s globally integrated approach to food and product safety helps companies to implement solutions that define and coordinate disparate business requirements, improve supply chain integrity and visibility, integrate risk and compliance strategies, and create a well-defined plan to attain the desired goal.

Henry is currently an invited member of the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Advisory Committee on Meat and Poultry Inspection, Consumer Goods Forum Global Food Safety Initiative Technical Committee, Food Safety Summit Tradeshow Executive Educational Advisory Committee, International Association for Food Protection as vice chairman of the Meat and Poultry Program Development Committee, Capital Area Food Protection Association, Institute of Food Technologists, American Association of Avian Pathologists and the U.S. Poultry Science Association. Other industry affiliations include serving as co-chair for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Food and Agriculture Sector Coordinating Council.
