GMA Vet Joins Joins Diamond Foods

Diamond Foods, Inc. has appointed Stephen Sibert to the newly created position of VP, Corporate Affairs and Communications. Sibert’s most recent position was SVP of industry affairs for the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), in which capacity he headed leadership councils and committees relating to sales, sales promotion, supply chain, technology, manufacturing and financial performance, and was responsible for such major components of the trade association’s annual revenue base, including industry conferences, membership recruitment and retention, and external sponsorships.

Before joining the GMA 15 years ago, Sibert spent eight years with the Retail Industry Leaders Association, and prior to that, at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, he led governmental affairs activities such as issue advocacy and management, along with coalition building and development of key public affairs campaigns.

In his new role at Diamond, Sibert will handle industry and government affairs and report to Linda Segre, SVP of corporate strategy and communications.

“Stephen’s knowledge and experience in the packaged food industry will greatly augment Diamond’s emerging leadership role in our industry,” noted Segre. “His strategic orientation and background in public and industry affairs make him a natural fit for the role.”

San Francisco-based Diamond’s brands include Kettle Chips, Emerald snack nuts, Pop Secret popcorn, and Diamond of California culinary and snack nuts.
