GMA/FPA Names V.P. of Regulatory Affairs
WASHINGTON -- The Grocery Manufacturers/Food Products Association (GMA/FPA) said yesterday that it appointed Paul Noe v.p. of regulatory affairs.
Noe will report to s.v.p., science & regulatory affairs and chief science officer Pat Verduin, GMA/FPA spokesman Scott Openshaw told Progressive Grocer. "Mr. Noe's position is a new one, and comes as a result of GMA/FPA's strengthened focus and commitment to key consumer products, sustainability, and environmental issues," Openshaw added.
"[Noe] brings to this position extensive experience in the policy arena, having worked both for the Administration and on Capitol Hill on a broad range of regulatory and legislative issues," said GMA/FPA president and c.e.o. Cal Dooley in a statement.
Most recently, Noe was a partner with C&M Capitollink LLC and legal counsel for Crowell & Moring's Environmental & Natural Resources Group. He worked on policy, legal, political, and technical issues in such areas as environment and natural resources, food and drug, agriculture, biotechnology, emerging contaminants, energy, as well as risk assessment and regulatory reform.
From 2001 to 2006, Noe served in the Bush Administration as counselor to administrator John Graham at the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). From 1995 to 2001, Noe was senior counsel to the U.S. Senate Government Affairs Committee for chairmen Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.), Ted Stevens (R-Alaska), and Bill Roth (R-Del.).
In his new role, Noe will serve as chief advisor and advocate on legislation and regulation related to environmental issues and consumer products, particularly those having to do with the EPA, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and sustainability. He will additionally manage GMA/FPA's Consumer Products Policy Committee, whose aim is to support a regulatory and legislative framework that encourages public-private partnerships and applies sound science
