Guiding Stars Licensing Co. Appoints Licensing Agent

Guiding Stars Licensing Co. (GSLC) has named Campbell Associates, LLC its licensing agent. The companies will work together to identify and secure opportunities to implement the "Guiding Stars" nutrition-rating system in new and diverse venues across the United States.

Billed by the company as the world’s first comprehensive nutritional navigation program, science-based Guiding Stars rolled out in September 2006 at Hannaford Supermarkets in response to consumer demand. It has broad relevance to supermarkets, packaged food companies, as well as food service establishments. The system has since been implemented at over 1,400 Hannaford, Sweet Bay and Food Lion stores, in addition to a school district in Maine.

Tarrytown, N.Y.-based Campbell Associates is currently the only licensing agency specializing in socially responsible licensing. Since 2002, it has worked with the American Red Cross, The ASPCA and Save the Children, among others

GSLC retained Campbell Associates to create and implement a comprehensive licensing strategy for expanding the Guiding Stars program into other supermarket chains, food manufacturers, food service facilities, restaurants and content providers.

"Campbell Associates, LLC has impressive expertise in strategy and identifying and securing target licensing opportunities, and will be a key partner in helping us continue to expand Guiding Stars," said Betts FitzGerald, managing director of Scarborough, Maine-based GSLC, which was formed to create opportunities for supermarkets, manufacturers, foodservice providers and other organizations to license the program.
