Marsh Supermarkets to Launch Web-based Petroleum Management Solution

INDIANAPOLIS -- Regional supermarket operator Marsh Supermarkets Inc. plans to deploy an Internet-based petroleum solution to improve management of fuel purchasing, replenishment, and invoice reconciliation across all of its grocery and convenience store locations.

Marsh said it expects the suite to achieve significant benefits including the ability to lower fuel procurement costs, optimize fuel inventory and transportation operations, and streamline supplier invoice reconciliation expenses.

"Our decision to implement TelaPoint's Internet supply chain solution is a key component of our ongoing strategy to optimize petroleum supply efficiencies for our retail operation," said Don E. Marsh, Chairman and c.e.o. of Marsh Supermarkets. "TelaFuel will help us save significant time and money by allowing us to optimize fuel purchasing costs, better manage fuel inventory levels and substantially reduce the labor needed to reconcile supplier invoices."

The solution includes three TelaFuel applications from Louisville, Ky.-based TelaPoint, Inc., an Internet-platform software company that provides business-to-business applications for the convenience store and petroleum industry.

The company's applications include Smart Replenishment, Smart Buying, and Smart Invoicing. Smart Replenishment provides inventory management, delivery projections and order communication for customer fuel outlets. Smart Buying provides the ability to aggregate, analyze, and rank supplier prices for fuel. Smart Invoicing provides the ability to reconcile supplier invoices with TelaFuel delivered orders and store fuel deliveries.

All TelaPoint customers have secure access through browser-based software applications, allowing for timely and accurate communication with their authorized trading partners.
