Meijer Names Highline Mushrooms Produce Vendor of the Year

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan -- Meijer here named Highline Mushrooms, one of the largest independent family-owned grower/shipper of fresh mushrooms in Canada, as its produce vendor of the year.

Meijer, the nationally recognized pioneer of supercenter format stores, presented the award to Highline at its Perishable Vendor Summit. Highline Mushrooms works closely with Meijer on its mushroom program, which features a dedicated harvesting team and a special packing room is dedicated exclusively to the retailer.

"From the beginning of our relationship Highline has demonstrated leadership and outstanding customer service," said Jim Spilka, v.p., produce/bulk merchandising. "Highline received this award for excellence in promotional support, on time deliveries, innovation, excellent product quality, private label support and cost containment."

"It is a great achievement and honor for Highline and our associates to be recognized for our efforts and motivates us to excel by setting our sights even higher," said Murray O'Neil, Highline's founder and chairman. "It was certainly a surprise when Jim Spilka called our name. It is an honor to be recognized by someone dedicated to achieving and maintaining the highest possible standards of excellence."

Meijer operates 170 stores throughout Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio.
