Meijer Re-launches Enhanced Photo Web Site

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Meijer is re-launching its photo Web site to offer free storage, faster upload speeds, more creative products, and a much improved user interface for ordering both prints and an expanded creative product line.

Meijer's new partnership with online image vendor LifePics allows customers an enhanced online photo shopping experience.

"We are committed to building long term relationships with our customers through online offerings," said Rob Shadowens, senior photo buyer at Meijer. "By offering free storage, consumers will always be able to come back to the Meijer Web site to view and organize their photos, share them with friends, and make prints and creative products. The Meijer Web site is designed to be the hub of customers' photo activities."

The new site puts a strong emphasis on fun, creative products by offering a wide selection of cards and borders as well as an expanded selection of photo gift items. The site also includes the ability for consumers to create stunning portraits using the imaginative backgrounds created by Magic Portrait.

"We work with consumers to observe how they use the site on a regular basis," said Ken McDonald, v.p. of marketing and operations at LifePics. "Based on extensive research, we made a number of major changes to the site to make it much easier for consumers to do everything from place their first order to order creative products like cards, calendars and gifts."

The family owned and operated Meijer operates 176 grocery and general merchandise supercenters throughout Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio. Meijer has been chosen as Progressive Grocer's 2006 Retailer of the Year and will be featured in an extensive profile in the magazine's December 2006 issue.
