Nash Finch Names Interim CEO, General Counsel

MINNEAPOLIS -- Allister P. Graham, currently chairman of the board of Nash Finch here, has been named the company's interim c.e.o..

The company said Graham has already begun to make the transition into the interim slot. As previously announced last September, Ron Marshall, the company's current c.e.o., is stepping down. Nash Finch's board says it is continuing to search for a permanent c.e.o.

With extensive industry experience, including having served as c.e.o. of The Oshawa Group Ltd., a multi-billion dollar food distributor in Canada, Graham currently serves as a trustee of the Associated Brands Income Fund, a manufacturer and supplier of private label dry blend food and household products.

In other news, Kathleen E. McDermott, s.v.p., secretary and general council, will resign, to be replaced on an interim basis by Kathleen M. Mahoney, current v.p. and deputy general counsel.

The company also said it has voluntarily contacted the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to discuss the results of an internal review that focused on trading in the company's common stock by certain officers and directors of the company last year. Nash Finch said it has offered to provide certain documents to the SEC, which have been accepted, and said it will continue to fully cooperate with the commission.

In a statement, Graham said: "Nash Finch is a solid business with strong underlying fundamentals. In particular, we have experienced growth in our food distribution and military operations, key drivers of our business. I look forward to leading the company on an interim basis as we continue to focus on strengthening our operations, meeting our customers' needs and delivering value to our shareholders."

Nash Finch's core food distribution business serves independent retailers and military commissaries in 28 states, the District of Columbia, Europe, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Iceland, the Azores and Honduras. The company also owns and operates a base of retail stores, primarily supermarkets under the Econofoods, Family Thrift Center and Sun Mart banners.
