PG to Host Egg Webinar

Progressive Grocer will host a one-hour webinar, “Changes Are Coming to Eggs…Are You Ready?” on April 2 at 2 p.m. ET. Sponsored by United Egg Producers (UEP), which represents farmers who produce 88 percent of America’s eggs, the online event will address proposed new egg-labeling requirements; the differences between various production methods: cage, cage-free, free-range and the new enriched colony cages being used in Europe and soon by more egg farms in the United States; amendments to the Egg Products Inspection Act; and the UEP Certified animal welfare program. The webinar will also include a question-and-answer session.

Moderated by PG Senior Editor James Dudlicek, the event will be presented by UEP Chairman David Lathem; UEP President and CEO Gene Gregory; Joy Mench, director, Center for Animal Welfare and Professor of Animal Science, University of California-Davis; and J.S. West & Cos. President and CEO Eric Benson.
