Stop & Shop to Offer Online Photo Services

QUINCY, Mass. - Ahold-owned supermarket chain Stop & Shop has deployed a new online photo service to allow its customers to place orders for prints online through the Stop & Shop Web site.

Photo customers will be able to pick up their orders in any of the Stop & Shop's 360 locations the next day; or have them mailed to their homes. The Web-based ordering and fulfillment system was developed by Vancouver, Canada-based online media solutions provider PhotoChannel Networks Inc.

"As digital photo printing enters a very high growth era, we believe we have deployed one of the best services for the digital photo needs of Stop & Shop customers."

The supplier, PNI, offers its technology in a private label format, with all program branding custom-designed with its retail customers' input. Retailers choose from a variety of features to deploy on their Web sites including:
- Ordering prints in as little as three clicks
- Account based albums with metadata
- Integrated shopping cart for gifts, greeting cards, calendars, and photo books.
- Sharing with address book integration
- Unlimited storage
- Editing features including crop, auto fix, and zoom.
- Up-sell features prompting user to purchase higher margin items
- Rendering of images onto gift products

Stop & Shop operates more than 565 stores throughout the Eastern United States.

PhotoChannel also provides digital solutions to Costco, Hannaford, Wal-Mart Canada, CVS/Pharmacy, and Eckerd Drugs.
