Stop & Shop to Pilot Netgrocer's 'Endless Aisle' Service

QUINCY, Mass./NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Stop & Shop and Netgrocer, a nationwide online retailer and e-commerce service provider, are partnering to test Netgrocer's "Endless Aisle" program in select stores beginning in March 2002.

The Endless Aisle Service provides Stop & Shop customers an extended assortment of "hard-to-find" items and product categories not typically carried in stores, via customized in-store kiosks and a link from the Stop & Shop website. This program supplements Stop & Shop's already successful online shopping and next-day home delivery service, Peapod by Stop & Shop, and extends the retailer's "click and brick" service strategy.

"We are continuously exploring opportunities to use technology to enhance our customers' shopping experience and expand our one-stop-shopping service," said Marc Smith, president & CEO of Stop & Shop. "Coupled with our great selection, this service will help our customers find everything they need and want at Stop & Shop."

Netgrocer has also announced that it has changed its corporate name to "NeXpansion" to better highlight the company's expanded service offerings for retailers and manufacturers.

"Netgrocer has been developing and hosting websites and providing fulfillment solutions for manufacturers such as Parmalat, Kraft and Johnson & Johnson for over five years," said Lisa Kent, president and CEO of NeXpansion. "We're excited to test the Endless Aisle program in Stop & Shop, which is known for its outstanding customer service and value. We look forward to a successful and mutually-beneficial relationship with them."
