Tom's of Maine, Shaw's Help Provide Access to Dental Care

WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- During February, Shaw's Supermarkets here will help support Tom's of Maine's "Dental Health for All" (DHFA) program with circular ads, displays, and donations of toothbrushes to dental programs. The retailer and the Kennebunk, Maine-based natural personal care product manufacturer will together donate over $30,000 in cash and in-kind donations to the Vermont Dental Care Programs, based in Winooski, Vt., and Cranston, R.I.-based Comprehensive Community Action.

The aim of the initiative is to improve access to dental care and inform consumers about the connection between oral and whole body health, said the partners.

"Tom's of Maine and Shaw's Supermarkets are longtime partners in helping people throughout New England obtain quality products and support their communities," said Tom's of Maine co-founder and c.e.o. Tom Chappell in a statement.

"Oral health is such an important part of overall good health," added Shaw's president Carl Jablonski. The retailer has been involved with DHFA since the program's inception.

To date, Tom's of Maine's DHFA the program has enabled retailers and consumers to make over $670,000 worth of donations to more than 65 dental clinics across the country.

Tom's of Maine products, which include toothpaste, mouthwash, and floss, employ simple, natural ingredients derived from plants and minerals. Additionally, the items have no artificial sweeteners, preservatives, colors, flavors, or animal ingredients; aren't tested on animals; are biodegradable; and come in earth-friendly packaging.
