Whole Foods Installs Project Management Tool to Manage Growth

AUSTIN, Texas -- Natural and organic foods retailer Whole Foods Market plans to install a Web-based project management tool to streamline its expansion efforts.

Whole Foods Market will use Columbus, Ohio-based Expesite's software to standardize processes related to its growth plans for the next three years. The retailer has specifically earmarked the software to manage store expansions and openings; exchange project information; and communicate with contractors, suppliers, and its own departments through a centralized platform.

The Web tool will allow multiple parties -- such as corporate users and third party consultants -- to access the system and collaborate on milestones and action items. Previously, projects were managed only with spreadsheets.

Whole Foods operates 184 stores in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and had sales of $4.7 billion in fiscal year 2005.
