3 Our Town Fresh Markets Reopen as Gordy’s County Markets

10/28/2014

Gordy’s County Markets opened three new stores on Friday, Oct. 24, located in La Crosse, Arcadia and Galesville, Wis. The grocer purchased the locations from Our Town Markets in August of this year.

The three locations continue a pattern of growth for the family-owned chain, based in Chippewa Falls, Wis. In the last five years, Gordy’s has added about 10 stores, according to spokesperson Matt Selvig. With its recent expansion, the chain now has 16 locations. “2015 is going to be another busy year,” Selvig added.

The company also received resounding approval on Monday, Oct. 27 from the Menomonie Plan Commission for land it purchased in the city, where Gordy’s plans to build a new 33,000-square-foot supermarket.

Gordy’s opened its first store in 1966 in Chippewa Falls and also owns eight Gordy’s Express gas stations. “In the grocery business, you either get big or die,” Selvig said of Gordy’s future plans. “We think we can compete with great prices and great products.”

Grand-opening festivities for the three new stores will be held after the first of the year.
