Allegiance Names 3 Senior Directors

Allegiance Retail Services LLC has promoted Daniel Dinkowitz, Samer Rahman and Vic Savanello to senior executive positions at the Iselin, N.J.-based company.

Dinkowitz is now senior director of sales and merchandising. In addition to managing the Allegiance field merchandisers and reset coordinators, which has led to higher store sales and customer counts, he will now also oversee planning and building compelling sales and promotional programs in alignment with vendor-partners.

Rahman is now senior director of meat and seafood. Responsible for the launch of the Rancher’s Legend Premium Angus Beef line and the Green Way Antibiotic Chicken program, which are exclusive to Allegiance stores, he will now include a meat/seafood merchant, as well as the department category managers, among his direct reports.

Savanello is now senior director of produce and floral. President of the Eastern Produce Council, he will now have a produce/floral merchant reporting directly to him, in addition to the department category managers who already do so.

“The organizational changes will enhance our current merchandising operations,” noted John T. Derderian, president and COO of Allegiance. “All three of these professionals are experts in their field, and each share a desire to win at retail every day.”

In other Allegiance news, at its annual membership meeting in Carlstadt, N.J., last month, the company reported record sales and income for fiscal year 2016, during which it acquired and introduced the Green Way natural and organic private label line. “We have been focused on delivering high quality food that customers will be proud to serve their families,” said Derderian. “The Green Way line represents a point of entry for our customers who otherwise felt priced out of the natural/organic lines.”

Also at the meeting, Allegiance held an election of its board of managers and the board of directors of its affiliate, Foodtown Inc., and welcomed four new members.

Nicholas D’Agostino III, John Estevez, Christopher Evans, Daniel Katz, David Maniaci, Esmail Mobarak, Louis Scaduto Jr. and John Shakoor were elected to the Allegiance board, to which Derderian was reappointed in his role of president and COO of the company. The board elected, for another term, David Maniaci as chairman and CEO. Further, Scaduto was elected vice chairman of the board; Evans, VP; Katz, secretary; and Mobarak, treasurer.

Allegiance supports independent supermarkets, among them Foodtown, Freshtown, Freshco, D’Agostino, LaBella Marketplace, Brooklyn Harvest, Market Fresh, Big Deal Food Market and JRs Fresh Foodtown, by providing them with marketing, advertising, technological and merchandising services, as well as a full line of Foodtown private label products.
