Baker’s IGA Wins Ohio Grocers Pinnacle Award

The Ohio Grocers Association presented Baker’s IGA, a multistore operation based in Newcomerstown, Ohio, with its Pinnacle Award, which is based on operational excellence and contribution to the Ohio food industry. The Pinnacle Award is given annually to both a multistore operation and a single-store operator.

“I am extremely honored to recognize Baker’s IGA as our 2016 Pinnacle Award winner,” says Kristin Mullins, president/CEO of OGA.  “Gary and Terrie Baker, Mark Cutshall and their entire team have a long record of serving their communities and running outstanding grocery operations. They are most deserving of the Ohio Grocers Association’s highest honor.”

Baker’s IGA was founded in 1918 by E.L. “Pop” Baker in Dennison, Ohio. His son Ed then opened a store after World War II in Freeport, Ohio. Ed's son Gary opened Baker’s A/G Food Store in Newcomerstown in 1974. Gary and his wife Terrie have grown the business to five stores in Newcomerstown, Scio, Coshocton, Sugarcreek and the Baker’s CashSaver in Millersburg, which was recently remodeled.

Gary operates the family business as president/CEO and Terrie serves as VP/CFO. Mark Cutshall, who has worked for Baker’s IGA for 30 years, serves as director of store operation. Gary also is a member of the executive committee of the OGA’s board and the National Retail Advisory Board for IGA. Terrie is a member of the National Grocers Association board.
