Carlie C’s IGA Founder Carlie McLamb Sr. Dies

Carlie McLamb Sr., owner of Carlie C’s IGA stores in North Carolina, died on June 20 at age 78.

McLamb and his wife Joyce opened their first store in 1961 and grew the company to 12 locations in Johnston, Cumberland and Harnett counties. He was the recipient of the IGA International Retailer of the Year and the North Carolina Retail Merchant Association’s Retailer of the Year, as well as being a charter member and founding president of the Mary Stewart Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, three children, seven grandchildren and 12 great-children, as well as his mother and two sisters.
