Constantino’s Market Expands Beyond Cleveland

Constantino’s Market will open its fourth location at the University of Rochester’s College Town district in upstate New York on April 9, the first location outside the Cleveland metro area. The family-owned retailer operates two neighborhood grocery stores in downtown Cleveland and a Convenient Food Mart on the city’s West Side.

The new store is located in a 500,000-square-foot student village that houses stores, restaurants, offices and residences, according to local news reports. When Constantino’s was first approached with the opportunity, the retailer was opening its third location, the 12,500-square-foot Uptown Market at University Circle. The New York location, while outside of the current marketing area, held a lot of similarities to the newest location. “We liked the idea of serving the students and staff of the University of Rochester, just as we had liked the idea of serving the students and staff of Case Western Reserve University,” Andrew Revy, COO of Constantino’s, told The Plain Dealer.

The New York store will be a traditional Constantino’s with a full-service deli, prepared foods and catering. Due to its larger size, it also will feature a full-service meat counter and fresh seafood.

Constantine “Costas” Mavromichalis opened the first Constantino’s in 2005 in Cleveland’s Warehouse District of downtown Cleveland.
