Grant’s Supermarket Offers Free Lunch to Police

Grant’s Supermarket, based in Bluefield, W.Va., offered free bagged lunches to all police officers, deputies and state troopers at its 14 stores located in southern West Virginia and southwest Virginia on Tuesday, May 24 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The lunch was a way to help thank the area’s law enforcement community during the Paint the Town Blue initiative started by the West Virginia Wives Behind the Badge, according to a local news report.

Each lunch contained a pepperoni roll, made fresh in-house in the bakery department; a bag of chips, a snack cake and a soda. The stores had the lunches ready on tables covered in blue tablecloths and decorated with blue balloons and a sign that read “Thank you for your hard work and dedication to keeping our communities safe!”

A Facebook post showing 15 photos of officers picking up the lunches in the store garnered more than 675 likes, nearly 70 shares and more than 30 comments in less than 18 hours.
