Green’s Grocery Opens in San Angelo, Texas

Green’s Grocery & Café opened its doors in San Angelo, Texas, on Nov. 3 after almost a year of construction.

“We didn’t make any Facebook announcements, we didn’t do anything, we just took the barricades down,” said Assistant Director Mary Beam in a local news report. “As soon as we took the barricades down, people just started coming in.”

The store focuses on fresh, local products and features a scratch bakery, artisan cheeses, a butcher shop and a café as well as chef-prepared foods to go. The to-go menu alternates daily and includes two entrees and four sides. The daily menu is posted on the website.

Nearly half of the products sold in the store are organic and a special area displays products grown or produced in Texas.

“We’re listening to what San Angelo wants right now,” Beam added. “People are coming up to us every day to bring suggestions of items they’d like to see.”
